The Grossest Thing I’ve Seen on TV Lately

If you don’t watch TV or don’t read any headline news, then maybe you haven’t heard of the KFC Double Down Sandwich.  But it’s pretty much everywhere, so you should pay a little more attention 😉

double-down

Okay, in all seriousness – this is the most disgusting thing I’ve seen in a long time.  Don’t get me wrong – I splurge every now and then (hello hot wings and cheese fries) – but this is just appalling.  If you can’t tell by the picture, it is cheese, bacon, and “special sauce” smothered between two pieces of fried chicken. Yep, no bread here folks.  You can even get the grilled version, but you only save 80 calories by doing so.

“The product is so meaty, there’s no room for a bun!”  Well, maybe we don’t need so much fried chicken on a sandwich.  I mean, doesn’t one piece usually please everybody?  If you notice in the commercial, KFC clearly isn’t targeting women with this sandwich.  Do they think only men are capable of devouring this gross excuse for a sandwich?  Hmmm…

If you tell me this sandwich is a great option because there are no carbs, you are wrong.  If you think two pieces of fried chicken around way too much greasy meat and cheese are better for you than bread, you are incorrect.  Sorry, but it’s true.  This sandwich will go straight from your mouth to your thighs.  I’m all about getting enough protein in my diet, but this is not the way to do it (especially right before swimsuit season :)).

Just avoid this sandwich.  Seriously.  It’s just gross and you won’t look cute eating it.  If you want a good chicken sandwich from a fast food restaurant, go to Chick-fil-A and get their Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich.  300 calories, 29g protein, and straight up delicious.
